Decisions and commitments

On this page

Record a decision or propose a commitment from a conversation. Both keep a version history.

Hover over a message (or tap it on a phone) and choose Record decision or Ask someone, which quotes the message it starts from. The Decisions button in the conversation header opens the panel that lists everything for that conversation: what is waiting on you, other open requests, decisions, and a collapsed list of closed items. The button shows how many are open and a dot when something is waiting on you. A decision or request made from a message also shows as a short line under that message; choose it to jump to its card.

Decisions

A decision records what the team chose. Its text and versions stay with the conversation where it was created.

Commitments

A commitment has one assignee. Only that assignee can accept the proposal, and Accept and Report done appear only for them. After accepting it, the assignee can report it complete. Hover over a card for Discuss and, for its author, the More menu with Revise and Cancel request. Nook records the completion report; it does not verify that the work was done.

Changing an unfinished commitment creates a new version and sends a fresh attention item to the person who needs to act. See Attention for following and clearing those items.
